About Chloe
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker with over 15 years of experience offering individual and family therapy. As a child and family therapist, I have worked with youth ages 3-19 and their families, with a particular passion for supporting foster and adoptive families, LGBTQIA+ youth, and young people with special education needs. I offer family therapy to biological families, chosen families, and individuals who wish to work on family issues whether or not other family members are present for our sessions. As an individual therapist, I have supported adults living with the impacts of trauma, substance dependence, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, neurodivergence, infertility/IVF, and schizophrenia. I also have experience as a case manager and social services advocate for adults navigating the legal, child welfare, and immigration systems.
Most individuals and families seeking therapy find themselves stuck in patterns or power dynamics that are no longer working, or they are experiencing a loss or a transition that has shaken up old ways of relating. When working with couples and families, I strive to offer a neutral space in which to navigate pain points or challenges. My aim is to help individuals, couples/partners, parents, and children find ways to live more harmoniously together, to increase their ability to listen to and understand one another, and to develop a collective and hopeful vision for the future with clear, actionable steps forward.
My therapeutic orientation is grounded in Liberation Health theory, which states that our lives and experiences cannot be understood in isolation from the social, cultural, and political realities in which we live. We are inevitably impacted by the messaging we receive about things like success, self-determination, our identities, and our values within the structures of race, class, ability, nationality, gender, and sexual orientation.
My style is compassionate, curious, and calm, and my approach includes active listening and reflection, objectivity and accountability, offering new perspectives, and regularly re-visiting and clarifying your wishes and hopes for our work together and for yourself and your life.
I offer a free 15-minute video consultation to new prospective clients. Please call 617-410-6809 or email chloefrankel@gmail.com to schedule an initial consultation.
